One of the ladder climbs at Bandelier.

A cliff made of tent rocks of soft light colored tuff/pumice rock with lots of air holes. In the center of the photo, looking small because of the distance above the camera position, is a ladder leaning at about 45 degrees with a person climbing up it. Above the top of the ladder is another ladder going farther up, and you can just see the tip of a third ladder above that, which ends at the mouth of a cave. The cave is in another layer of rock, redder and harder but still holey and volcanic. There's a trail with a metal railing leading from the left edge of the photo to the bottom of the lowest ladder.

                    @s8n @crunklord420 They've "halted" production of all 50, 60, and 70 series GPU SKUs that you'd actually want to buy. I don't really care tbh. No consumer genuinely needs a 50-series card - my 3080 can run just about anything Mr. Tyrone the gaymer would want to play.

                      @Forestofenchantment @s8n I feel lucky to have bought the bottom of the used RTX 3090 chart. If I had to replace it, I'd probably have to spend more. There's just no other way to get 24GB of VRAM unless you pay double, triple for the newer gens with hardly anymore.

                      Where is my upgrade path? It's basically non-existent. I'm gonna be living with this 3090 forever.

                                      It's a good thing I upgraded my PC when I did. My RTX 4070 was 600 dollars new and now it's over 900. 64 GB of DDR4 RAM is about 500 dollars on average, was 100 or 200.

                                      Luckily, the drives I continue to buy to hold onto my archives are all mechanical and optical drives, so I haven't been hit there.

                                            Very usable, but you have to get over the hurdle of figuring out good FVWM keybinds first. I'd recommend wmaker instead for an average joe. Some jank with Xinerama (menus appearing on the wrong monitor), xinput (cursor snapping), general Motif shenanigans and interface bugs needing soft-restarts which there is a convenient button for. The upside is you get a really good theming engine and prettymuch everything can be changed.

                                                    They always felt off to me and got shilled hard by "privacy" and "security" advocates, so that immediately makes them less trustworthy to me. Besides that, the whole reason for using them, email encryption, only works when you send emails from Proton to Proton.

                                                    Email transport can be unencrypted anyway between the various MTAs depending on the route, so pretending that email can be private is a half-truth at best.

From the inside, we're currently busy rolling out our 25.1 series to our testers and the public in general to gather feedback. The goal is to release 25.1 stable before turning to feature development again. Also, Vendefoul Wolf is one of the first distributions to package @sonicdesktop which is relevant for the future of KDE on X11. They try things that other, more conservative distros prefer to "wait and see", thereby paving the way. That's the point here.

I do not like to call myself smarter than other programmers. I have only gained a grasp at what I am doing within the past year. If I had to work with something on the scale of libc I would struggle. If I had to port a bunch of modern Unix tools to a forty year old platform mostly by myself I would die.

                                                                                                                                          But... whoever ported libnix2 + newlib to amiga needs to see a psychiatrist, because allocating a few bytes with a simple new or malloc() should not start an infinite loop that eats all available memory until it eventually paints over the screen with garbage.

                                                                                                                                          How do you even let that happen?

                                                                                                                                          In all of the time I have spent debugging my own porting work thinking I did something wrong, I could have used AllocMem, avoided all of this and rewritten the other handful of stdlib features I needed instead.
