Origins
Canithesis Interactive was founded in Missouri, United States, as the commercial arm of two hobbyist software engineers. We started with writing homebrew tools and hosting web infrastructure for a few online forums and video game servers. Some of us have backgrounds in retro computing and embedded systems dating back years.
We're artists. We're commited to the art and what it means. Our goal is to always achieve a high quality first, unencumbered by our secondary goal of profit. We draw a strict moral line others aren't willing to. These are promises we're dead set on keeping.
No DRM. No vendor lock-in. No half-baked bloat. No swindling. Never. Not even once.
What We Do
We maintain Worlio, which is a forum, historical archive, electronic mail and XMPP service provider combined into one. We also created the MYTHOS game engine, a free and open source framework for independent game developers. And, we host uncensored mirrors for some externally developed open source projects, such as the XLibre display server. A partial list of our work is available from the products page. We also have a public Git organization here.
The Name
The word "Canithesis" is a portmanteau derived from the Latin word "Canidae", referring to wolves and similar animals. "CANI" also happens to be an acronym meaning "Constant And Neverending Improvement". If you ever find yourself asking "Cani do it?", the answer is we certainly can and we will!
Contact
You can get in touch with us by sending a letter to contact@canithesis.org, if no other more appropriate address exists. This should not be used for support requests. Please file a ticket within our ticket system if you need help with a product.
