          A hoodoo at the Valley of Dreams.

          Looking out from under a rock ledge at a spectacular sandstone hoodoo. It has a trunk like a tree, off-white sandstone, maybe three feet in diameter at the base tapering to a little over 2' in the middle, then fanning out at the top into "fingers" that look a little like an elephant's foot. Balanced on top of the fingers is a huge rounded boulder of somewhat yellow and harder-looking sandstone. The balanced boulder is distinctly off center, looking like it should fall. The hoodoo is in a depression surrounded by layers of the same sort of stone -- crumbly looking off-white sandstone topped with harder yellower sandstone -- all weathered in a way that suggests that it's all in the process of becoming similar hoodoos. The overhang over the camera has a piece of the crumbly stone hanging from the top, a trapezoid of maybe 2-3' and about a foot thick, again looking like it should have fallen years ago. The sky is blue and cloudless.

                          I am rotting. No i didn't forget to release the mythos sources it's just becoming a PITA to finish even minor touchups because I'm worried about money. Trying to get a sidejob but every employer just wants webshit or AI slop.

                                      This is the most obvious statement of this millennium but apparently it needs to be repeated for the people in the back:

                                      The government does not give a fuck about you. None of them do. We built a system specifically to not trust the government.

                                      The problem with that system is that we keep allowing said government to find loopholes within it that allow it to make whatever tyrannical rules it fucking wants without repercussions or revolt.

                                      When it doesn't work (EARN IT Act), they just keep trying again (ID verification) and each plot will be attempted for years at a time. The feds are playing a war of attrition and are betting on you being forgetful. The communications decency act, the patriot act, TSA, and everything since then. That time they let Microsoft off the hook because their monopoly was too useful.

                                      Nobody could have predicted 300 years ago that we would invent a system to instantaneously transmit vast amounts of information across tens of thousands of miles, and that it would become the backbone of political stability as it dictates everything people perceive to be real.                                               @apropos @xianc78 i wonder what the feasibility would be of something like, you put your driver's license ID number in to a website and it sends a signal to some government service to check the DoB on the card correlating to that number. it can then send a signal back to verify that the person is above 18, or 21, or whatever.

                                              i would say you could just verify with credit cards, since you need to be 18 to get one, but that FURTHER incentivizes credit which i don't think is necessarily a good thing. i think the wrong people would benefit from that kind of requirement.

                                                    In MYTHOS I have opted to expose only the underlying Allegro transforms and create ways to manage them better rather than create a proper camera system built-in like what is necessary in most 3D engines. I do not want to complicate any perspective tricks that might rely on transforms, since changes to the transform the GPU is working with are relative to the previous transform. Without some two-step BS to control the order camera transforms are applied to each entity it would quickly become a headache for a small few developers.

Above the top of the ladder is another ladder going farther up, and you can just see the tip of a third ladder above that, which ends at the mouth of a cave. If I had to replace it, I'd probably have to spend more. There's just no other way to get 24GB of VRAM unless you pay double, triple for the newer gens with hardly anymore.

                                                                                  It's a good thing I upgraded my PC when I did. My RTX 4070 was 600 dollars new and now it's over 900. 64 GB of DDR4 RAM is about 500 dollars on average, was 100 or 200.

                                                                                  Luckily, the drives I continue to buy to hold onto my archives are all mechanical and optical drives, so I haven't been hit there.

                                                                                        Very usable, but you have to get over the hurdle of figuring out good FVWM keybinds first. I'd recommend wmaker instead for an average joe. Some jank with Xinerama (menus appearing on the wrong monitor), xinput (cursor snapping), general Motif shenanigans and interface bugs needing soft-restarts which there is a convenient button for. The upside is you get a really good theming engine and prettymuch everything can be changed.

                                                                                                They always felt off to me and got shilled hard by "privacy" and "security" advocates, so that immediately makes them less trustworthy to me. Besides that, the whole reason for using them, email encryption, only works when you send emails from Proton to Proton.

                                                                                                Email transport can be unencrypted anyway between the various MTAs depending on the route, so pretending that email can be private is a half-truth at best.

                                                                                                  I trust Proton more than Nord etc. but yeah like any "privacy" provider that gets too big they eventually fall off. I wouldn't use them to do anything I don't want my local glowie looking at. You can't even register for an account through Tor. And idk if they let you pay with Monero.
