Hello 2026!
Hi! It's been a while since you've heard from us. A lot has changed in the past half-year so I want to take the time to let you know what our plans for this year are. A "state of the canid address", if you will.
Supporting Free Software
What motivates us to write new tools is often the need to use those tools ourselves. We are working towards improving the XMPP/Jabber ecosystem with our own desktop client that is going to compete with Psi+. We use XMPP every day and we're aware of some of the frustrations its users face. We also have plans for other software on the back burner that we think will fulfil some neglected niches, most of them are aimed at game development. All of these will be under a free license. We will share more about this in the future when we are ready.
MYTHOS Engine for PC is getting a public release
"MYTHOS" is the name of the game engine that I wrote for TIME FALCON. I've taken time away from the game to work on this engine portion in isolation. We have at least one other development team interested in using it and I'm working on completing the documentation and polishing up the last APIs. Since a lot has changed from the TF prototypes, a lot of the code is not thoroughly tested, so this will be a Beta release. The hope is that adoption from other developers will allow us to get feedback that will help our own projects in return.
MYTHOS aims to do almost everything with as little as possible. We want something that can build almost any 2D indie game, without being a bloated wreck that tries to please everyone. The number one design priority is that every part of the engine should make sense to you after your first day, as if you had written it yourself.
TIME FALCON is delayed (again) until further notice
No deadline to announce this time. Can't keep breaking promises, sorry!
Amidst our endless amition, and our stagnant team size, we can't support the completion of a full game this year at the pace we are going. I am the only person working on TF at the moment and have been since 2024. We expect to have something interesting to show in 2026 (more dev blogs at least!), but will probably not make a release if we hope to be successful.
The first major setback has been our lack of artists. The second is the lack of available tools. I mentioned before that we were working on an Amiga port, but as it turns out available C++ tools for older platforms are of very poor quality. Abyss has the best compiler by far (hi shin'en how's it going), but only one modern standard library port exists from Bebbo and it is incredibly unreliable. On top of the public release of MYTHOS, all of this has prevented me from implementing the gameplay mechanics that actually make the game what it is. I don't foresee something changing overnight to make a game pop out in less than a year after all of the struggles we have survived so far.
Ironically, TIME FALCON was originally supposed to be a non-serious project just to get our company off the ground so we could get funding to work on our pride and joy, which was going to be a racing title. And then it took the spotlight. I wouldn't call it "scope creep", but... that's what happened, yeah. That's why we kept shooting for unrealistic goals like "full release by Christmas 2025". We almost never do that. This was an unfortunate time to start believing in deadlines. Welcome to game development!
The bright side is that all of these delays have given me time to think some more about the story I want to tell, and how I want to tell it. Now, I told you we would be sharing more about the game, and that obviously is not going to happen right now. But without spoiling anything, I'll just leave it at this: I hope you love conspiracy theories.
Worlio Overhaul Update
Last year, Canithesis merged with Worlio. Worlio is a oldnet enthusiast forum with free web hosting, as well as a public XMPP and email service provider.
Since 2022, Worlio Beta has been going through a major rewrite to finish the tokens system, add more ways for forum members to engage with posts they like, and create systems to reward regular contributors. We're also reworking the web hosting to allow collaboration between multiple users.
Here's a sneak peek at the new points shop, one of the ways we reward forum members for their posts. Like the previously deprecated User Library, users can create and sell their own customizations for other users here.
Unlike with TIME FALCON, we're pretty sure this is going to be done by the end of the year, for real! But that is still not a promise. Small team, no funding and all that. Speaking of which...
You can help, too!
If you like any of the things we are working on, we strongly encourage you to donate. Not only does it put food on our tables, but with enough money we can hire contractors to get things done faster. Just think. You could be reaping the benefits right now if more people had donated sooner!
Our Monero address (for now) is:

Okay, enough e-begging. Have a great 2026, from the Canithesis team!
